How To Light a Bunsen Burner

 Aim:

I want to find out how to safely  light a bunsen burner 

Method:

equipment: 

1. lighter/matches
2. heat mat 
3. bunsen burner 

Instructions

1. get equipment
2. get safety glasses 
3. connect the hose to the gas tap
4. turn the collar to close the air hole
5. light the lighter then turn on the gas
6. of you are not using it turn it off

Reading acivitaing pior knowledge

Hello welcome back to my blog today I am talking about reading.

When we read something new we are often reminded of things we already know about the text It might be something we've done before or read about it or seen on Tv with prior knowledge.

We activate our prior knowledge to help us understand the text better. 

We read a book called jump and Mr Mitchell told us about when he went bungy jumping which helped us with our work because he has already been bungy jumping. It helps us because so he has knowledge of what it feels like bungy jumping, now we actually know how scary it really is.

Hands On Fire

 Aim:

I want to find out how to set my hands on fire safety

Method:

Equipment 

•  Large container of water 
• Detergent 
• Hose
• Gas
• Lighter  

 Instructions 

1. get the equipment. 
2. fill the container with water,2 center meters deep 
3. squeeze some liquid soap, and mix it around gently
4.  connect the hose to the gas tap
5. turn on the gas and bubble it into the water 
6. roll up your sleeves past your elbow or take off your jacket
7. wet your hand and your arms in the water 
8. with two hands scoops the bubbles, not the water 
9. take to steps  forward away from the tray
10. be like that when your about to lit your hands on fire
    
    
    

safety in the Lab

 Rules 

1. you must follow the instructions given by the teacher 
2. you must not enter the lab without the teacher 
3. report any breakage 
4. shoes must be worn at all times
5. do not eat or drink in the lab
6. if you spill something tell then clean it up 
7. wash your hands after doing experiments
8. a heatproof mat should always be used when heating 
9. if in doubt ask the teacher 
10. never taste or smell chemicals 

1. Liquids do not go into the bins, because…..  in the sink

2. Solids do not go down the sink because…. it will block up the sink 

 3. Wear safety glasses when you do experiments, because….  somthing might go in your eyes 

4. Put your chair under the desk, and stand at the bench when you do experiments, because… you could trip over your chair 

5. Bags do not go on the desks, because… you can spill chemicals on your bag 

6. Long hair should be tied back, because… it doesn't get caught in anything 

7. Do not smell the chemicals, because… it could go in your body and might pass out

 8. Walk, don’t run around the room, because… you  could trip over and hurt yourself 

9. Do not eat or drink in the lab, because… of the chemicals
